Goals, Approach

& Outcomes

Goals

Approach

  • GENDER SPECIFIC & HOLISTIC

Welcome Home SIS encourages each woman to heed God's calling, focus on self-care, commit to giving back to her community, and always strive to reach her full potential.

Our program is gender-specific to meet the unique requirements of women, focusing on family reunification, trauma-informed care, and treatment for issues with substances. Our holistic approach is multi-faceted, as there is no 'one size fits all,' every woman has different needs.

  • PERSONAL AGENCY & AUTONOMY

Although the program is structured, it is not as strict or rigid as the average transitional housing facility. Allowing women a degree of freedom and autonomy is a crucial component of independence; this gives control back to the survivor, enables decision making, and ultimately creates learned responsibility.

She knows she is accountable for her actions. Decreased supervision makes more room for family, job, and self-care, and preparation for independence.

Outcomes

  • HEALTH & WELL-BEING

Welcome Home SIS takes the health of our residents very seriously. Upon arrival, steps are taken to ensure the best possible outcome of her overall well-being. This encompasses her physical, mental, and spiritual health. The residents are required to have a physical check-up, mental health assessment, find a sponsor and a home church by week two.

  • SAFER NEIGHBORHOODS

Women in reentry who are offered the opportunity to rebuild their lives with a stable support system are less likely to re-offend. Housing is the most immediate need. We do not merely want to reduce recidivism- we aim to eliminate it.

  • BONDING

We host monthly events that are family-oriented to promote bonding with loved ones. Family game nights and crafting are a commonality at the SAFE house.

  • FAMILY REUNIFICATION

The separation between a mother and her children can be unbearable for many women. When possible, we assist in reconnecting and encouraging other family members to take an active role in the resident's transition.

  • SELF CONFIDENCE

By encouraging our residents to venture out of their comfort zone they often discover hidden talents and increase their confidence.

  • INDEPENDENCE

There is no set time frame for the stay at our SAFE House. Some women may reach self-sufficiency in a few months while others may take longer.

  • RIGHTEOUS BEHAVIOR

Welcome Home SIS wants women to lead a restored and changed life. The women are, in part, accountable for the safety of the house and should demonstrate honesty, trust, and help to create a safe and secure environment.

The women are required to set good examples for each other by behaving in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.

All residents are expected to exercise personal self-discipline, restraint, and express kindness towards each other, staff, and guests.
